Wiki format: allow the target of a link to open in a separate tab / window

      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Using the wiki format it is very easy to enter a link to an external target like this: [http://www.atlassian.com]
      Unfortunately the target of the link always opens in the current browser tab resp. browser window. It is disturbing that you always have to reopen your JIRA in the browser after you followed one of the external links in its comments or description (without giving extra direction to open in different tab).
      It would be nice if you could offer a formatting option similar to target="_blank" in HTML.
