We get more support requests than we ought to from customers who are doing a CSV import and getting a "CSV file does not exist error" because their CSV file is on their client PC instead of on the server running JIRA.
I can see how this happens, since the user has probably be working with the file in Excel to massage its format and data. They are likely to do this on their PC, rather than on the server, because (for example):
- they don't have Excel running on the server running JIRA
- they got emailed it by someone else, and they read their email from their PC
They then don't think to copy it over to the server.
Can we please enhance the CSV import feature so that it works with a file on the client? That is, automagically upload the CSV file from the client to the server running JIRA.
I guess we could add a warning to the text message in the CSV Import Wizard, but my gut feel is that a better solution is to actually fix the problem.
