One feature that would make my life much easier is if Jira would introduce a per-user configurable setting that would allow you to automatically collapse all sub-tasks under its parent. I'm basically thinking of Mozilla Thunderbird's mail message threading feature...something similar in Jira would make it a lot easier for me to see which sub-tasks belong to a parent.

I know there is a way to do this by using the search system and grouping by task – the main difference in my suggestion is that a) this behavior would be user specific and b) it would happen by default (if enabled) when you open up a project.
