There is a "sub-task blocking condition" which guarantees the parent task can not be closed while subtasks are opened, so when main task is closed no subtask remains opened.
However, any user can create a subtask in a closed tasks, which leads to the same situation; main task is closed but subtasks remain opened; which makes subtask management much more complicated; parent issue should be reopened before allowing subtask to be created within.
