Internet Explorer 7 added support for displaying RSS feeds - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/tour/rss/. Prior to version 7, and RSS feed in IE was displayed as raw XML.
However, RSS feeds from JIRA are displayed in still displayed in Internet Explorer 7 as raw XML. Confluence feeds (and other public feeds) appear correctly in IE 7.
