It seems that jira mangles unicode characters by escaping the HTML escapes for unicode.

Therefore when you create an issue or a comment in other languages other than english, you get characters such as 日本語

This is a pretty big bug for us as we are a Japanese company and need multilingual support to work.

We are using Jakarta Tomcat 4.1.12 and Postgresql 7.3.

Postgresql was compiled with:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-multibyte=UNICODE --enable-locale --with-java --enable-syslog
and installed with initdb --locale="C" -D $PATH_TO_DATA

We really like Jira a lot, and want to buy it, but we need to sort out these bugs first.
