Problem Statement
Currently, when viewing a Jira Cloud Dashboard, users can temporarily collapse or minimize individual gadgets using the toggle in the gadget header. However, this state is stored only in the immediate client-side session.
Whenever the page is refreshed/reloaded:
- All gadgets reset to their default, fully expanded state.
- This occurs consistently across all browsers, incognito mode, and affects both native Jira gadgets and third-party Marketplace gadgets.
Suggested Solution
Introduce an option to persist the collapsed or minimized state of dashboard gadgets across reloads. This could be implemented as:
- User-level preference: The dashboard remembers the individual user’s last toggle state (e.g., in user profile preferences or local browser storage).
- Dashboard configuration option: Allow dashboard editors/owners to configure default gadget display states (e.g., "Default state: Collapsed" vs. "Default state: Expanded") when designing the dashboard layout.
