Issue Summary
Provide granular notification toggles in Jira Cloud for Microsoft Teams to disable alerts for "Linked issue count" and "Issue Link" changes.
Steps to Reproduce
- Install the Jira Cloud app in Microsoft Teams and enable personal notifications (specifically the "Issue updated" category).
- In Jira Cloud, navigate to an issue where the user is the Reporter, Assignee, or Watcher.
- Link a new issue, remove an existing link, or perform any action that modifies the "Linked issue count" field.
- Observe the notification received in Microsoft Teams.
Expected Results
Users should be able to toggle off notifications for issue-linking events or "Linked issue count" updates while still receiving notifications for other critical field changes (e.g., Status, Priority, or Due Date).
Actual Results
All issue link modifications are bundled under the broad "Issue updated" category. There is no native way to suppress these specific high-frequency alerts, leading to significant "alert fatigue" and causing users to potentially miss other important updates if they disable the category entirely.
Workaround
- Disable the default "Issue Updated" personal notifications within the Jira Cloud app in Microsoft Teams.
- Create a Jira Automation rule:
-
- Trigger: Issue updated.
-
- Condition (JQL): Use a condition to ensure the notification only fires for the fields you care about (e.g., priority CHANGED OR status CHANGED) or explicitly exclude link changes (e.g., issueLinkCount NOT CHANGED).
-
- Action: Use the "Send Microsoft Teams message" action to send a custom alert to the user or channel.
