Option to uninstall Jira Cloud for Slack in Connected Apps

XMLWordPrintable

      Jira Cloud for Slack is shown as a system-installed app in Connected Apps, but it does not provide the same visible lifecycle controls as other system-installed apps. For example, some system-installed apps have a customer-admin Uninstall action, while Jira Cloud for Slack does not.

      Jira Cloud for Slack has a separate configuration path through Atlassian Integrations, including a “Turn on Jira Cloud for Slack” setting. However, Connected Apps does not clearly explain:

      •  why Uninstall is unavailable;
      •  whether the integration is enabled, disabled, or connected to any Slack workspace;
      •  what disabling the integration changes;
      •  whether existing Slack workspace connections, tokens, user mappings, subscriptions, notifications, or data exchange remain active; or
      •  what supported removal path exists for customers with security or compliance requirements.

      This creates uncertainty for Enterprise administrators who must demonstrate that unused integrations are disabled and cannot exchange data.

      At minimum, Connected Apps should:

       1.  Show the integration’s current state: enabled, disabled, and connected/not connected to a Slack workspace.
       2.  Explain why self-service Uninstall is unavailable, when applicable.
       3.  Link directly to the supported Jira Cloud for Slack configuration page.
       4.  Clearly document the effect of disabling the integration on:

      •  new Slack workspace connections;
      •  existing workspace connections;
      •  notifications, unfurls, subscriptions, and thread-sync features;
      •  OAuth tokens and Slack/Atlassian user mappings; and
      •  data exchange between Jira and Slack.
       5.  Record enable/disable changes in an administrator-accessible audit log.
       6.  Provide a documented, supported full-removal process for organizations that require it for security, legal, or compliance reasons.

      Impact
      Enterprise customers need predictable controls and evidence for security reviews. The current difference between system-installed apps that can be uninstalled and Jira Cloud for Slack, which instead uses a separate disablement flow, is difficult to explain and administer.
