Issue Summary

The selected options within the “Collaborators” multi-select combobox are not being announced by the screen reader.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the Jira Cloud homepage.
2. Activate the "Create" button located in the header -> A dialog appears.
3. Using a screen reader, navigate to the "Collaborators" field or any user-picker multi-select combobox.
4. Observe that the selected options are not announced when navigating using the Tab key.

Actual Results

The options selected within the "Collaborators" multi-select combobox in the "Create" dialog are not announced by the screen reader when navigating using the tab keys. Currently, the screen reader announces the combobox as: "Select field, edit combo collapsed, blank. Multiple selections available, use left or right arrow keys to navigate selected items". 

This misleading announcement may cause screen reader users to believe that no options have been selected. As a result, screen reader users may not be aware of the currently selected options.

Expected Results

The screen reader should announce the combobox’s accessible name, role, state, and current value, including any selected options, when it receives focus.

Apply the following changes:

• Selected values should be conveyed in a structured and user-friendly manner without causing excessive verbosity.
• For 1–3 selected items, all selected Collaborators should be announced explicitly (e.g., “Selected: Collaborators1, Collaborators2”).
• For more than 3 selected items, a concise summary should be announced (e.g., “5 Collaborators selected”) instead of listing all values.
• The complete list of selected values should remain accessible when the combobox is expanded or when navigating through the options list.
• The presence of selected values should always be communicated, even when the combobox is in a collapsed state.

Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
