In the Advanced Roadmaps (Plans) timeline, we can currently:
- See releases displayed along the top of the view, and
- See issues scheduled on the timeline, including using sprint dates for scheduling.
However, unlike the board / project Timeline view, Plans does not show:
- A dedicated Sprints lane across the top of the timeline, alongside
- A Releases lane.
In the board / project Timeline view, this combination is very powerful because we can:
- Visually see sprint boundaries,
- See release milestones, and
- Understand at a glance how work, sprints, and releases line up over time.
In Plans, we’d like to have a similar experience so we can get that same clarity at the multi‑project / multi‑team level.
Current results
- Plans timeline shows:
-
- Issue bars
-
- Release markers along the top
-
- Sprints only implicitly (e.g., via issue dates or sprint capacity views)
- There is no way to enable a separate Sprints lane across the timeline in Plans.
Expected results
Please add an option in Advanced Roadmaps (Plans) to:
- Show a Sprints lane on the timeline (similar to the project/board Timeline view), and
- Show this lane together with Releases, so both sprint windows and release dates are visible at the same time.
Workarounds
- Use Plans for cross‑project planning and rely on the board Timeline view for a single board’s sprint + release visualization.
- Configure issues in Plans to inherit dates from their sprints, so the issue bars line up with sprint timing—but this still doesn’t provide a dedicated sprint lane across the plan timeline.
