"View work items as a chart" renders user picker fields as accountId, not user names

XMLWordPrintable

    • Severity 3 - Minor

      Issue Summary

User picker custom fields (both Single-User Picker and Multi-User Picker) display user accountId values instead of user display names in the “View work items as a chart” view, while the same fields show correctly as display names in the list/filter view. This leads to inconsistent and unreadable data when visualising work items as charts.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. In Jira Cloud, create a User picker (single user) or User picker (multiple users) custom field and add it to a project.
      2. Create a few work items and set this field to real users.
      3. Open the project’s All work / list view and add this field as a column.
      4. Confirm the field shows user display names in the list.
      5. From the same view, click More actions (⋯) > View work items as a chart.
      6. In the chart, use this field as the column/dimension to visualize.

      Expected Results

      • Both Single-User Picker and Multi-User Picker field values in “View work items as a chart” display user display names, consistent with the list/filter view.
      • Users see the same, human-readable names across both list and chart views for the same fields and issues.

      Actual Results

      • In the list/filter view, both user picker fields correctly show user display names.
      • In “View work items as a chart”, the same fields show raw accountId strings (e.g. 5f8c7eaa9b1234567890abcd) instead of display names.
      • This makes the chart difficult to interpret and creates an inconsistency between the list and chart representations of the same data.

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behaviour. A workaround will be added here when available
