Issue Summary
The child issue/sub-task description is intermittently replaced with the Epic/parent issue's description when an action item (checkbox) is clicked. It is also possible that the child issue/subtask description is copied back to the Epic/parent description as well.
- This can be reproduced on Jira Software and Jira Service Management Projects as well
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a parent issue in Jira or Jira Service Management. Set the Description to some text, or some bullets, but don’t include any action items.
- Create a couple of sub-tasks. Add 3 or 4 action items to the Description of each sub-task. Leave all of them unchecked.
- Without going into edit mode, click the first or the second action item within a sub-task’s Description.
Step 3 above usually triggers the over-writing of the description with the parent’s description.
Expected Results
Expected results would be for the action item check boxes to simply become checked with no change to the field value.
Actual Results
The description field value that previously had the action items in the child issue is replaced with the description of the parent issue
Or
The description field value that previously had the action items in the parent issue is replaced with the description of the child issue
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
