Current Problem
In Jira Software Cloud backlog view, the “View settings” menu allows users to toggle visibility of a limited, predefined set of fields (e.g. work type, assignee, etc.).
However, many teams rely on custom fields when refining their backlog.
Currently:
Only a fixed list of fields can be shown/hidden from “View settings”
There is no way for project admins or board admins to add their own custom fields to this list
As a result, users have to open each issue individually to see important custom information during backlog refinement
This makes backlog grooming and prioritisation slower and more error-prone, especially for teams that depend heavily on custom fields.
Suggested Solution
Extend the Backlog “View settings” so that board admins can configure:
Which fields are available as columns/secondary information in the backlog issue rows
Include both system fields and custom fields (where they are on the screen for the issue type)
