Currently, in Jira, regular Forms only allow the work type to be changed while the form is still valid and the work type exists in the project. If the work type is removed from the project, the regular Form becomes locked and cannot be edited.
However, Advanced Forms do not behave this way. If the work type associated with an Advanced Form is removed from a Jira project, the Advanced Form remains editable—even when the form is “inactive.” This allows users to modify the associated work type or make other changes as needed, regardless of the work type’s status in the project.
Suggested Improvement:
Please update regular Forms so that they remain editable even if the associated work type is removed from the Jira project, matching the behavior of Advanced Forms. This would allow users to modify the work type or make other necessary changes to the form, even after the work type is no longer present in the project.
Why this is important:
Aligning the behavior of regular Forms with Advanced Forms would provide consistency, improve flexibility, and reduce administrative friction. It would ensure that users can always update forms as needed, regardless of changes to work types in the project.
