Summary
There is a growing need for Atlassian Cloud products, including Jira Software Cloud, to support secure log and event transmission via REST endpoints. Many enterprise customers are adopting security and compliance solutions that require vendors to send logs or webhook payloads directly to their environments using secure, standards-based authentication methods. Currently, Jira Software Cloud webhooks do not support OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials (signed JWT) authentication, which is a common requirement for secure API integrations in large organizations. This limitation prevents customers from integrating Jira Software Cloud with their security and monitoring platforms in a compliant and secure manner.
Suggestion
Implement functionality in Jira Software Cloud to allow webhooks and log/event transmissions to be sent securely via a REST endpoint, supporting OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials (signed JWT) flow for authentication. The solution should enable customers to configure webhooks or log delivery endpoints that require this authentication method, ensuring secure and standards-based integration with enterprise systems. This enhancement would empower customers to receive logs and webhook data directly and securely, aligning Jira Software Cloud with modern enterprise security practices and facilitating compliance with organizational requirements.
