      Issue Summary

Currently, all users with Browse users and groups permission in Jira Cloud instance can see the all the "Teams" listed in the Teams menu and browse all teams created within the organization.

For organizations with sensitive or compartmentalized team structures, this presents a privacy and security concern, as it exposes the existence and membership of all teams to every licensed user.

      1. Restrict Teams Directory Visibility:
Allow Jira administrators to restrict which users or groups can view the Teams directory and the list of teams. Ideally, only members of a team (or users with specific permissions) should be able to see that team in the directory.
      2. Granular Team Privacy Controls:
Enhance team privacy settings so that administrators can control whether a team is discoverable or visible in the Teams directory, beyond the current "Private" setting.

      Business Impact:

      • Prevents unauthorized users from viewing sensitive team structures or membership.
      • Supports organizations with strict access control or compliance requirements.
      • Reduces the risk of information leakage regarding internal teams and projects.

      Current Workaround (No longer works):
Setting teams to "Private" only restricts access to team details, but does not hide the team name or the Teams directory from users.

When creating a Team you can no longer choose Private as an option for the Team. See below:
