      Issue Summary

When bulk changing work items to Epic, the parent link is removed from issues converted to Epic—even if their parent issue is also updated to a valid type in the custom hierarchy. This shows the loss isn’t due to hierarchy violations. Parent links remain intact for other higher-level issue types changed in the same bulk operation. Despite a correctly configured custom hierarchy that allows parents for Epics and the Parent field being present on Epic screens, the parent link is specifically cleared when changing issue types to Epic.

      Steps to Reproduce

      • Configure a custom issue type hierarchy with at least two levels above the Epic issue type.
      • Create a work item at the highest hierarchy level, then add a child work item at the intermediate level (one level above Epic).
      • Perform a bulk operation to update the issue types for both the parent and child work items.
      • Set the child work item’s issue type to Epic and the parent work item’s issue type to the level directly above Epic.
      • Observe that, after the bulk update, the Epic issue no longer retains its parent link.
      • This will not happen if you involve other issue types than Epic. The parent link will be preserved.

      Expected Results

      Parent link should be persevered.

      Actual Results

Parent link is getting removed only for Epic work items.
