Currently in the active board view work items will open in a pop-up screen:

The backlog view does not present that option and will open cards in sidebar instead:

That's not a great option depending on your current resolution (e.g. if you are working on a laptop).

Suggestion

Provide the ability to have work items open in the pop-up screen in the Backlog view as well.
