Thanks so much for your patience. We are happy to communicate that this issue is closed as fixed, and it will be available to you shortly.
As you might have noticed, we have not planned this improvement to be addressed explicitly. But we have discovered that we can close it quite easily as a consequence of architectural work delivered to close JRA-25721.

Original request description
Custom fields which are issue type or project specific are not shown in the issue navigator until the relevant project or issue type is selected (and refreshed via the blue box). This could potentially be a bit confusing for first time users.
