Issue Summary
When exporting issues from Jira to a CSV file, the checkboxes in the description field are lost and replaced with bullet points. Upon importing the CSV back into Jira, the original checkbox formatting is not retained, and the content appears as bullet points instead.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an issue in Jira with a description that includes checkboxes
- Export the issue to a CSV file.
- Open the CSV file and observe that the checkboxes are replaced by * (bullet points).
- Import the CSV file back into Jira.
- Check the description of the imported issue.
Expected Results
The checkboxes in the description field should be retained in their original format when exported to CSV and should appear the same after importing back into Jira.
Actual Results
The checkboxes in the description field are replaced by bullet points * in the CSV file. When the CSV is imported back into Jira, the description appears with bullet points instead of checkboxes.
Workaround
Currently, there is no workaround that preserves the checkbox formatting when exporting to CSV and importing back into Jira. Users can manually adjust the description field after import to restore the checkbox formatting.
Hello folks, I've moved this ticket to a 'Suggestion' as this would be a new capability of CSV export that is not intended to be currently supported. Rich text fields such as Description are currently exported using Wiki markup which does not contain/support certain document metadata, e.g. Checkboxes.
For customers needing to export + import data with rich text markup using unavailable features, it is recommended to use site backup and restore functionality.
