    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

What we need is an official, first party, full on Terraform Provider for all of Atlassian Cloud.  Everything from Jira, to JSM, to Confluence, to Opsgenie, to Bitbucket. Along with all of its features, including Automation Rules, etc.

My company has been moving to IaC for all our SaaS providers, and it makes managing what exists so much easier.

Without it, we have multiple teams creating automation rules, some long since forgotten about, and figuring out who owns what, and why things were created is a nightmare.  And that's just automation rules, you should see the mess our workflow schemes, and issue field schemes are in. There is just no way to enforce good standards in a world where everyone clicky clicks their way through a UI.

I know what the response may be, "well only a select few admins should be granted access to do that", no, just no. Our company doesn't have time to create a team just to maintain Atlassian. And gating everyone's workflows on a select few is asking for constraints to be added to a workflow.

A first party terraform provider, with all functionality, would allow us to develop a few well designed terraform modules, tailored to what our company needs, would enable every team to self manage their Jira environment. All the configuration would sit in code, and be reviewed. Compliance checks would make sure that silly things aren't being added, reviews would catch errors, and anything in the environment could be traced back to the code repository, and the pull request that added it.
