Update 1/2/2024
This bug appears to occur if the issue(s) being bulk edited have a field which is required (i.e must have a value) but do not. This ticket is currently in progress and a fix will soon be deployed, but we encourage users to review whether their issues contain any empty fields that are actually required.
Issue Summary
When performing a Bulk Operation to update the Parent field for issues that are on an issue type hierarchy level of 1 or above, the Wizard returns a successful message, but no updates occur.
Please notice that this behavior is not replicated across all Jira Software sites.
Steps to Reproduce
- Search for an issue on hierarchy level 1 or above and initiate a bulk change for this issue:
- Choose Operation: Edit Issues
- Operation Details: Change Parent: <add, update, or remove the desired value>
- Complete the steps and observe that the Bulk Wizard returns a successful message.
- Verify that issue is not updated as expected.
Expected Results
The updates should be reflected on the issue updated.
Actual Results
The Bulk Operation is completed successfully, but changes are not reflected in the issues.
Workaround
The field Parent can be updated manually on the UI, or via the External Import System option.
OR
Review any empty fields on the issue which may actually be required, and add the appropriate date.
