In the old issue search when using the Detail view we had a counter that showed the total number of issues and the position of the current issue for that search:

With the introduction of the new issue search|https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/Introducing-the-new-issue-search-to-Jira-Cloud-users-updated/ba-p/2276375] we lost that.

The suggestion is to bring that back. Users can use that to more easily communicate and gather information.
