Issue Summary
The Parent issues are displayed inconsistently in the Backlog view Epic field.
When using a Custom hierarchy with issue types, for example:
- Initiative - hierarchy level 3
- Theme - hierarchy level 2
- Epic - hierarchy level 1
For the Theme issues with Initiative parents, the Epic field in the backlog does not display the parent correctly.
- The parent is displayed in the Epic field regardless of the hierarchy in the Active sprint view
- The parent is not displayed in the Epic field in the backlog view in most situations
- The parent is displayed in the Epic field in backlog view but disappears after hovering the mouse over the field when the issue is selected and the page refreshed
- The parent is displayed in the Epic field in backlog view but disappears after hovering the mouse over the field when navigating between backlog and active sprints
Steps to Reproduce
- Create Custom hierarchy:
- Initiative - hierarchy level 3
- Theme - hierarchy level 2
- Epic - hierarchy level 1
- Create a Theme and Initiative type issues, adding Initiative as a parent of the Theme
- View the issues in the backlog
Expected Results
The Epic field should be consistent between backlog and active sprints.
Actual Results
Currently, the Epic field displays parent issues with custom-level hierarchy in Active sprints, but the data is displayed inconsistently in Backlog, disappearing right after hovering the mouse on the issue.
Workaround
Add the parent value in the card layout:
- In the top-right corner, click on ... > "Configure board"
- In the left menu, click on "Layout" > "Card Layout"
- Add the parent field under the backlog section and save it. The Parent summary will start displaying in the backlog card
