      Problem Statement

Roadmap only displays 3k of issues/300 epics at the moment

      Suggestion

Increase issue limits for Roadmap view

Update from Atlassian 2nd June 2022

Thank you all for your valued feedback.

To set some context - The basic roadmaps feature on Jira Software Cloud is targeted at a single software team with one project per roadmap. Currently, this view only works with issues from the backlog associated with one project. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/set-up-the-roadmap/

We have now increased the issue limits on the Basic Roadmap view on Jira Software Cloud for all editions. There is a limit of 5000 issues, and 500 epics which are "Open issues + Completed issues up to 12 months ago". This is the same limit for the board and backlog. If you see that your project is reaching above this limit, you can try to close epics and issues no longer required within that project.

Cross-project planning with multiple teams is only possible in Advanced Roadmaps which is targeted at "teams of teams"/software organization level planning, which is included with Jira Software Premium and Enterprise subscriptions. This can be accessed via the "Plan" tab on the top navigation if you are on the premium.

Thanks again for your feedback and time spent articulating the needs of your team. We really do value it.

      Regards,

      Rathesh Richards, Product Manager.

This is really a turndown on this product (AR Server) after we bought it. In our organization we are creating one-single-source-of-truth using Advanced Roadmap and have hit this limit very hard. Please make this configurable far beyond 5000 issues / 100 projects or none at all. PLEASE fix this!

We are living in 2022 not in 1980 or so. It is so weak to harass your customers with this kind of limits.

Hi 01230710c426 - Thanks for your feedback.
Currently, the basic version of Roadmaps only supports one project/team view and has certain limits.

It sounds like your team of teams would benefit from Advanced Roadmaps on Jira Software Cloud Premium: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/roadmaps/advanced-roadmaps - which can be accessed via the "Plan" tab on the top navigation if you are on the premium. It's used for cross-team and cross-project planning with many more features to visualize one planning view.

Please increase the size to greater than 5k for all the same reasons as stated above.

We're using SAFe agile - and need to see all agile teams withing an aRT on one planning view.  All of are ARTs are hitting this max limit.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep us updated if you implement a higher limit than 5k .  We really need it.

We started using the roadmap feature in October of 2020 and we already surpassed 300 epics. We use this feature a lot, it is extremely useful for our Program managers. if the issue is performance, why not allow to continue to use this view filtering statuses, or at least displaying the last 300 epics. Removing epics after the "done" status was set over a year ago, seems useless. This is a roadmap view after all.

Anything that you can do to give us access back to this feature would be greatly appriciated.

This was an issue for us when, as part of the closed beta, we enabled Roadmaps on a Classic Project board that had already been in use for many years. I think Atlassian should expect that users of Roadmaps on Classic Projects will try to use Roadmaps on existing projects, not just new ones.
