Support cross-project usage in Timeline (formerly simple roadmaps)

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Summary

You can use the Timeline (formerly simple roadmaps) to plan work in a board.

But, currently, the Timeline (formerly simple roadmaps) is designed to support single project only. Which means that you won't be able to have issues from different projects be displayed in the roadmap.

      Suggestion

Make it possible to use cross-project roadmaps.

      Original request

      Hi,

We are a SW Development firm where Management wants to be able to have an overview of Ongoing projects "EPICs" from multiple projects. Where would this be possible? As I currently only can have Single project when using Roadmap.

Update from Atlassian 11th February 2022

Thank you all for your valued feedback.

To set some context - The Timeline (formerly simple roadmaps) feature on Jira Software Cloud is targeted at a single software team with one project per roadmap. Currently, this view only works with issues from the backlog associated with one project. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/set-up-the-roadmap/

Cross-project planning is only possible in Advanced Roadmaps which is targeted at "teams of teams"/software organization level planning, which is included with Jira Software Premium and Enterprise subscriptions. More here on how to set up your first plan: https://youtu.be/xJ-RmFwEVjM .

Separately, we hear, and understand your concerns about having better visibility of the epic progress (which may include issues from another project) on the basic roadmap view. We currently do not have this on our roadmap in H1, 2022, but we are constantly reviewing this based on any specific use cases provided on this ticket.

Thanks again for your feedback and time spent articulating the needs of your team. We really do value it.

      Regards,

      Rathesh Richards, Product Manager.
