cca8a74a59e8 We just don't use Jira anymore for long term planning. Super frustrating.

I was disappointed to discover this feature request and see that it has existed since May 2, 2019, with no changes made since then.
Also the Product Manager, 762b441b532a, who promised on Nov. 8, 2022, that the topic would be considered in the roadmap, has not been active since September 2023.

Has anyone found workarounds or even good alternatives to Jira in the meantime?

Jira is a neat toy, but some of us have actual work to do.

Is there any further updates on this issue?  I need to plan more than 2 years in advance to cover the entire roadmap for our digital operations.  I've even tried changing the dates of the historic tasks to get the time window to move forward but nothing seems to allow me to see beyond 2 years from now.

If this isn't addressed we will be forced to use a different tool.

It seems there is not much willingness to give Jira users this feature - then at least give ud a possibility to get those epic that is stock in the past a new date to make them possible to access. Now I just have some dependencies to the past that I can not control.

I work for the Central Bank of Mexico, and we recently noticed this limitation which was so frustrating. After trying the roadmap tool for a while we thought it would be the way to go for our future projections which span for at least 6 years. Please do implement a longer timeline or make it configurable. The Bank is currently boosting Jira and acquired a great deal of licenses, however, this kind of limitations might hinder Jira's adoption among the Bank's community.

@Rathesh this "feature" needs to be fixed for customers immediately. Customers should decide how far into the future the timeline/roadmap extends, even if it means a performance drop. As it is, this problem renders Jira almost useless for medium to long term planning. So, it looks like it's back to Asana and SmartSheets for everyone then.

We require to plan new projects concerning previous projects. In that case, past projects need only be displayed in the past period, not in the current period. An alternative might be to export and reference roadmaps of past periods of past projects.

Why is this not possible yet? I have no use of looking back a year into the past. I need to plan out my 5 year plan. this must be implemented ASAP!
