After a Board reaches 5,000+ issues, the Board settings page fails to load, and you cannot determine which Filter is being used by the Board to resolve it.

      Issue Summary

      • When a Board is using a Filter which returns more than 5,000 issues, the Board fails to load with an error message:
"Your board has too many issues. Boards can only display up to 5,000 issues at a time. Move or delete issues to continue using your board."
      • Navigate to the Search bar in the top right, select Boards, find the problematic board and select the 3-dot action, then 'Board Settings' > You are redirected but the page remains blank. Users are unable to review the Board Settings as the page fails to load.
      • This makes it impossible for Users to determine which Filter is being utilized by this Board so that they can edit the Filter Query to make it more granular to less than 5,000 issues.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Find a Board using a JQL Filter Query which returns more than 5,000 issues.
      2. Try to load the Board and you recieve an error message.
      3. Attempt to determine which Filter is being used by the query by navigating to the Search bar in the top right, select Boards, find the problematic board and select the 3-dot action, then 'Board Settings' > You are redirected but the page remains blank.

      Expected Results

      • When a Board has too many issues and is unable to populate, still provide the ability to navigate to 'Board Settings' to update the Filter Query or determine which Filter Query is being used to resolve the problem.

      Actual Results

      • Board Settings fails to load and you are unable to determine any information about the Board or the Filter being used by the Board to attempt to resolve.

      Workaround

Open a Technical Support ticket and Support can assist in determining which Filters are being utilized by the Boards through the database, and then those Filters can be edited to be more granular, and return less than 5,000 issues.
