As a Jira Software user, I want to see issues' status and other fields on backlog in a different column

      Here is a company-managed backlog:

And here is a team-managed backlog:

We want to prevent the addition of rows on cards in company-managed projects when fields are added to backlog cards: This would take up less vertical space, as shown in the team-managed backlog, above.

For example, in the row of the ticket JSW-230, I added the Due date and Start date fields to my card layout. We would prefer to see each of these values in their own columns:

The issues in the backlog should have customizable columns.

Hi everyone, I'd like to clarify this request as the product has changed since it was first created. Here is a company-managed backlog:

And here is a team-managed backlog:

Am I right in thinking that users want to prevent the addition of rows on cards in company-managed projects when fields are added to backlog cards? This would take up less vertical space, as shown in the team-managed backlog.

For example, in the row of the ticket JSW-230, I added the Due date and Start date fields to my card layout. Would you prefer to see each of these values in its own column?:

PLEASE, include this change in Company-Managed projects. It is so easy because its world already in Team-managed projects.
This change does not double the height of the Issue line, it's easy to identify.

Adding a vote - this felt like such a natural feature in a team managed project and it's frustrating that it's not here in a company managed project

I thought this already existed - turns out, there's only the "Card Layout" method that doubles the row height! It has been over 5 years, please do this!

Yes this looks really bad when adding the new column there. Please maintain it same as we have in the team managed software projects.

Adding my vote, just moved from team-managed to company-managed boards, and really miss the status labels in the backlog view.

Adding my vote, this feature is absolutely criticla for me to keep using Jira more. Right now, I export the data to another tool (eg Airtable) to be able to get this view on the backlog where I can get a quick sense of status of each issue on the backlog list without actually going  into the details of the issue

Adding my vote for this feature. Please prioritize! Would be very helpful to evaluate the backlog and prioritize stories if we could customize the columns displayed in the backlog. Adding a column that displays as an unlabeled row below the issue summary is not helpful. Thank you.

Definitely need this capability, I spent quite a while trying to modify the backlog view to change the columns displayed as it seemed obvious that functionality  must be there - but it is currently not. Please prioritise

This is a massive blocker for moving to Advanced Roadmaps. Please tag the PM who runs that because this becomes a headache for that transition.

            Hi everyone,

Putting in a vote to see the status of a ticket in the backlog show up on the right hand side of the board instead of below the ticket. This is available in team managed projects, but our specific setup requires company managed projects. Seeing the status below the ticket is bad UX imo and look way more clean on the right side.

            Thanks,

            Gregg

I would like to be able to add and re-order desired columns to the Backlog view.

I would like to be able to modify the card layout also without necessarily impacting the Backlog view.

The current method we're given (change Backlog card layout, which creates a row below every issue) is terrible.

@Jill - this was possible in Jira server, but most of the configuration possibilities for the backlog board are gone in Jira cloud

It seems adding backlog and sprint to the column layout section of the settings might help achieve the ask. Then instead of modifying the card layout (which can also be helpful) you could have users add columns that are pertinent to their sprint planning (labels, status, story points, currently assigned to, etc).

            Thanks so much.

I would like to be able to add desired columns to my backlog board which will help me plan for sprints better and able to reorder the way it shows the columns.

We would like to be able to add Labels as a column.

            We are estimating business-value and prioritizing by ROI = business-value / story-points.

Unfortunately we can't see the ROI (or business-value) in the backlog, so prioritizing by ROI is very hard to be done in jira

This would be very helpful for us as well to see the status on a sprint or in the backlog. Currently we have to click on every ticket to view the status which is very time consuming when trying to also set priorities for each user. If you can expedite this request would really appreciate it.
