Atlassian status as of March 2024

      Hello all,

Thank you for watching, voting, and commenting on this issue.

As of March 20th, we have rolled out support for cross project parenting for TMP Epics in JSW. If your instance is on bundled release track, this will be rolled out on 2024/05/15.

Note that there is currently no short term plan to support cross project parenting for TMP stories. If you are interested in this capability please refer to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-18377

      Issue Summary

Currently it is not possible for an issue in a team-managed project to be parented by an issue from a different project (either team-managed or company-managed). This hinders planning at scale, as Epics in team-managed projects cannot be nested under Initiative level issues from company-managed projects

      Workaround

Currently, team-managed project issues would need to be moved to a company-managed project to achieve this behaviour

So you decided to close this issue which had the status Under Consideration, and encourage us to follow another issue with a status Gathering Interest? It makes me wonder whether these public-facing statuses serve any purpose at all.

It would be great to get communication on the status of this feature. The last comment on JSWCLOUD-20012 from @eysebaert%40atlassian.com suggests that Atlassian "aims to deliver this added value soon." This was in August 2023.

There's also an Atlassian-hosted private group about the topic at https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Team-Managed-Project-Support-for/cmp-p/grouphub%3Atmp-ar, but either there's no activity or just a long queue in reviewing requests to join.

In any case, could someone from Atlassian please provide an update?

Any updates on the schedule yet? We're hoping to start incorporating team-managed projects to our plans as soon as possible.

Do you have a sense for timing of this feature release?  Yet in 2023, or more likely later?
