In CMP, the User Picker (single user) custom field type allows you to limit the set of users available in your user picker field to specific groups or project roles.

In TMP, the same field doesn't work if we configure project role filtering. It works with groups only.

Suggestion :

Please provide the functionality to add TMP roles to the global field filter or add filters to the TMP user field.
