As a Jira administrator, I want the ability to automatically sync user attributes (such as location and manager) from identity providers like Okta and Azure into Jira issues. This will allow for more dynamic and accurate approval workflows in Jira Service Management (JSM). For instance, the approval of a ticket can be set to the reporter's manager, and ticket routing can be based on the reporter's location.

+1 want this feature to sync department field in Jira SM issues.

+1 for this feature. We have a multi-site setup with similar departments structures in different regions. We would need to appoint different approvers per region. Have access to the reporting structures in our automation would be important too.

I have two projects in JSM that require line management approval and a bunch of other Jira projects that would also benefit from the extra functionality. I was just exploring how I could do this and was disappointed to see that despite having the Manager attribute already syncing from our IdP into Atlassian user accounts, the manager attribute isn't accessible in Jira/JSM. If the "Manager" field could be accessible via an automation, that would be perfect.

For my use case, I want to send a notification to the reporters manager to seek approval if a certain kind of ticket is submitted

+1 on the vote for this. There is already a free Atlassian app for user attribute imports for Assets. And the Atlassian Cloud Entra Application is setup for user provisioning, a few more user attributes to map and we are there, it'd be great to have this

This would be a very useful feature to have instead of using a lot of applications for the sync and handling in Jira.
