Description
Issue Summary
When a dark colour is used for the Jira navigation bar background, the text colour in the nav bar switches to white to maintain readability, but the text and background colours in the menu dropdowns stays the same (e.g. black text on white background when using the Light theme).
If the browser window is too small to show all of the navigation menus, the menus are collapsed under a "More" menu. When using the light theme, this dropdown shows the other menus as white text on a white background.
This issue doesn't occur with the dark theme.
This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes) / (no)
Steps to Reproduce
- In personal settings, choose the Light theme
- Under System > Look and Feel > Navigation colours, set a darker colour as the Background
- Refresh the page and confirm that the text colour in the navigation bar is white
- Reduce the width of the browser window until the menu on the left of the "Create" button is "More"
- Click on the More menu
Expected Results
The menu is black text on a white background, the same as the other menus.
Actual Results
The names of the collapsed menus (e.g. Apps) are white, which is unreadable unless they're selected.
Workaround
User options:
- Increase the width of the browser window so all menus are shown normally
- Use the dark theme
Administrator option:
- Change the navigation background colour to a lighter version, so the menu text is black
