      Atlassian update - November 2024

      Hello everyone,

I'm April, a product manager looking after Atlassian Teams 👋. I appreciate you sharing your insights and use cases regarding this topic.

We recognise its importance and plan to explore it further in the upcoming year. I'm keeping this in the 'gathering interest' phase, as it's not yet part of our official roadmap but is something we hope to explore within the next 18 months. I'll provide an update in a few months on where this is at 🙏

Please feel free to reach out in the comments if you have any questions about Atlassian Teams and I will try my best to answer you.

      Best regards,

      April

There is currently no way to notify members of the Team field when an issue is updated as there is no method of selecting the Team field in Notification Schemes or Notification Automations. Even using the smart value for the custom field in Automation does not work for sending notifications. I know this is a relatively new feature, but it must be integrated properly into existing notification channels for it to be truly useful.

Also adding myself to this ticket as adding Team to the notification Scheme would significantly help us in our Org.

Add my name to the list! This sounds like a feature that was introduced for testing but not fully integrated. We were going to use a Jira Misc Custom Fields scripted group for this. Maybe Atlassian could write a help article to show a sample of a JMCF script that collects team members and assigns to a dynamic group. JMCF is still quite a black box of reference docs without use cases.

I was excited when I discovered the existence of the Team field, but after reporting a problem with the support team, they informed me that it does not serve the function I thought it would, that is, notify its members about the assigned work.
I hope you can provide a quick solution, since it is a basic functionality in my opinion.

So we have Teams, but no way to interact with them using Automations? Interesting. Looking at the Created Date of this request, chances are, that this will not see the light of day any time soon

Possibility to send notifications to all TEAM members is definitely needed, please implement this the soonest.

Interesting new feature for JSM, but as others have mentioned, more functionality needs to be built around teams to become really useful.

There is definitely a vision for this feature in the minds of those managing JSM as a product at Atlassian, but its roadmap is not clear yet, and Atlassian's documentation at that level is so far very limited.

This has the potential to become a major paradigm shift in the way JSM works in the long run, so it should be elaborated on.

Currently, instead of using the new "Teams" feature, we are still building teams in "Jira Assets" for our solutions, and giving them all the attributes we need for our logic to work, and that will probably remain the case for a while until the feature matures.

As Lydia mentioned, the core "functionality" of a team is missing. I've heard of starting small, but what a "Team" currently allows is incredibly underwhelming.

Without this feature, using a Team is basically useless in a real-world environment.
