    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Issue Summary

From the 5th of June 2023, when an issue has over 150 attachments, it’ll only display attachments in the list view. However, the problem lies in the fact that thumbnails and previews fail to load. This situation makes it challenging to correlate attachments in comments (such as images) with the corresponding files.

For further details, refer to this link: Update to how the issue view handles a large number of attachments.

      Expected Results

To enhance user experience, it is expected that users should be able to directly download attachments from comments or be seamlessly redirected to the relevant entry in the Attachment list when clicking on an attachment within a comment.

      Actual Results

Currently, attachments' previews and thumbnails are not loading. Consequently, users are unable to interact with these attachments.

      Workaround

Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

A few of my tickets are also affected by this limitation, which I find unacceptable. I have created the following IT ticket to raise a complaint about this issue:  UFX-13917

This is a nightmare. I have a team doing some work where they place the results of their investigation in the comment. Suddenly after reaching 150 screenshots attached to comments all of their work was gone. Bravo Atlassian! This is NOT how this should work.

This disrupts my work on a big project where I have lot's of different screens UI and also multiple comments with images.

This means that you are not suitable for complex projects - I am afraid to document with you and this is really bad!!!

dear jira... i agree with the aforementioned general sentiment.... simply, i think that image quantity should NOT be limited (fyi, i'm a standard paid user, have ~5 people at my company, use various Atlassian services - confluence, jira, and only have this problem on a handful of my many 100s of tickets)... if a small upcharge is absolutely necessary to facilitate my request, i'd rather pay that then be subjected to discombobulation and annoyance - 'infinite spinner', preview unavailable, etc. appreciate your customer care and overall consideration in advance.

I'd like to provide further clarity based on previous comments. While the idea of limiting the number or size of attachments (and their size) was previously considered, it appears that our customers prefer not to impose such restrictions. However, I'm presenting a distinct request here which aligns with the recent modification regarding issue attachments (Update to how the issue view handles a large number of attachments). I believe it would greatly benefit our end customers to have the capability to click on these 'invalid' previews and consequently be redirected to the corresponding attachment in the list or have the attachment load immediately. I'm also open to exploring various alternative solutions and created this suggestion with the intention of examining those possibilities.

Looks like this was already requested in 2014: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-38435
and are still gathering interests ...

Would it be possible to block users from uploading more attachments when they reach the 150 attachments, or just re-direction the attachment to a virtual drive?
