On Jira Service Management Server the comment dialog displayed when transitioning an issue supported both plain-text and rich-text editing.

However on JSM Cloud, only plain-text is supported. This makes sending tables in particular very difficult using the state transition screens.

The preview link lets you see the resulting formatting, but you can't edit the comment while in preview mode.

 

Please add support for Visual or rich-text editing in transition screens.
