New issue view doesn't automatically save/publish changes to Description field.
Edits are not published until you hit the save button, and edits are not discarded until you hit the cancel button. See the attached video for an example of this:
In Jira new issue view, users who edited an issue's description can leave the change by navigating to other pages and the change won't be saved. In the previous issue view, all changes will be automatically saved once the focus is moved.
The difference in behaviour leave users with the impression that the change is saved causing misinformation to other users until the author visit the issue again and click on. Sometimes the information will be lost due to another user overwriting the draft.
We understand this is expected behavior in new issue view, but we would like to have an auto-save option or some other mechanism to prevent users to leave their drafts unsaved.
Steps to reproduce
- Go to any issue in new issue view.
- Edit Description or add a new Comment.
- Without clicking on Save, navigate to another part of Jira e.g. other issues, administrations pages, etc.
- Revisit the issue and you can still see the change made in Edit mode.
Expected result
The behaviour where changes are saved automatically as per in previous issue view to maintaining consistency.
Current result
Changes made are not saved until the author realize it.
