Issue Summary
This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes) / (no)
When we are trying to sort the alphanumeric data in descending order in a short text field, the result of sorting is text-based.
Meaning if we have two entries in the short text field- CZ-70022 and CZ-8122, and we sort them in descending order, we get the result where CZ-70022 comes after CZ-8122. It is because the system is performing the sorting character-wise, in which CZ-8 looks greater than CZ-7. Hence, CZ-70022 becomes after CZ-8122
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new custom field of type short text(AAII) or find the existing field of the same type
- Enter some alphanumeric data in the field like CZ-8122, CZ-70022, CZ-9922, CZ-0222, CZ-0122
- Run the JQL: order by created DESC
Expected Results
The system should sort data alphanumerically rather than sorting it character-wise/text-based.

Workaround
