When you add a URL in a Jira editor (issue description, comment) then it'll be automatically turned into a nice link with a text generated from the title of the website. This is great, but it also adds a space after the link.
I appreciate this is to have to write one fewer keystroke, but it's really an unexpected UX:
- This is not a usual feature of editors out there, so you'll instinctively add a space after pasting the URL. Now you have two spaces and have to go back to delete one. If you do know this behavior then every time you paste a URL into an editor you have to do the conscious mental work of not typing a space, adding an exception to what you do all the other times.
- It takes a bit of time to generate the link. This is not much but still, much-much more than it takes to decide on adding a space and starting to write the next word. Thus, you won't get the feedback that the space is added, and thus you don't have to add it, just after you've already added yours.
- You don't need a space every time after a URL. One example is adding a URL in parenthesis (like this:[ https://www.google.com/).|https://google.com/]
I'm demonstrating the frustration in the attached video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sx02m8iufq0ydqq/Jira%20editor%20adding%20unwanted%20space%20after%20URL.mp4?dl=0 (can't attach the file here).
Please remove this feature, it's really not helping.
Note that while I'm opening this for Jira Cloud, the same issue is present in the (I presume same) editor of Confluence Cloud.
