Issue Summary
Users are unable to create Subtasks from a company-managed Software board view if it's parent Epic Link belongs to another project of the Subtask and there's a validator.
This only happens on a company-managed board that contains issues from various projects and tries to create the Subtask from the board view while there's a validator on the Subtask (workflow or field configuration)
Steps to Reproduce
- Create 3 company-managed Software projects (project A, project B, project C)
- On project C, create a Scrum board and adjust the Saved filter to include all 3 projects
- On project B, adjust the Field Configuration and make any field required (eg. Description)
- On project A, create an Epic issue (EPIC-A)
- On project B, create an issue (ISUE-B) and add EPIC-A as its Epic Link
- Select ISUE-B on the board view and Create subtask
Expected Results
The inline create should trigger the create screen due to the required field and once you update the Description, you can create the Subtask.
Actual Results
The creation fails and you get an error:
Could not find parent project for this issue
Note: This only affects users using the New Global issue create experience and where there is a required field in the Field Configuration or a Validator in the create step of the Workflow.
Workaround
The Subtask can be created in any other view. Otherwise, you can also Switch to the old experience in your Personal settings. To avoid this bug altogether you can remove the validator that's applied on the project of the Subtask.
