Description
Hi all,
We apologise for the inconvenience but this logic is intentional. Company-managed project Kanban boards work by using the fix version field. If your team does not need the fix version field, your board admin will need to update the board sub-filter. Please be aware this sub-filter is used to clear issues off the Board page (issues relating to a released version do not show).
An alternative is to use Team-managed projects which uses status category rather than release versions to determine what issues are shown on the Board page.
We will make an update to our documentation to clarify this.
Thank you,
Eoin Ryan
Product Manager
Issue Summary
The default Kanban board sub-filter ((fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() OR fixVersion is EMPTY)), removes issues from the board if they don't have the Fix Versions field in their configured screen or if it's set to hidden in the field configuration.
This appears to happen also in advanced issue search (filters).
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a Kanban project or board
- Configure issue types in the related project so that their screen doesn't contain the Fix Versions field. The field can also be in the screen but hidden in the field configuration.
- The issues with the missing or hidden field will not be shown in the board or in a JQL search that includes the sub filter query.
Expected Results
The issues should be shown in the board even if they don't show the field or a warning should be displayed informing that issues in the project don't contain the field and that's why they are filtered out.
Actual Results
The issues are filtered out of the board without any type of warning or notification to the user.
Workaround
The issues need to have the Fix Versions field visible even if the customer doesn't need the field or, alternatively, the board sub-filter, which is added by default to the Kanban boards, needs to be removed from the board settings.
