      Issue Summary

The pie chart/statistics gadget show duplicate entries if you use a custom field as a statistic type if the custom field has multiple contexts with the same selection types.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a custom field select list cascading (single option) or Select List (single choice)
      2. Configure custom field options
      3. Add two or more context for this custom field with the same custom field options
      4. Associate this custom field to a screen
      5. Create two issues and add the same value for this custom field in both issues
      6. Go to the dashboard and add a gadget "pie chart"
      7. Select a filter and use the custom field as the statistic type

      Expected Results

No duplicate entries will be shown.

      Actual Results

There are duplicate entries on the pie chart gadget because of the custom field context configured with the same custom field options.

Clicking on any of the rows in the chart brings up the filter and all matching entries are displayed.

      Workaround

      Workaround #1

To see consolidated data in Jira Dashboard gadgets for a selection of projects, you will need to configure custom field contexts to apply it to all relevant projects.

Navigate to Jira administration settings (Cog icon) -> Issues -> Fields -> Custom fields ->  [search for your custom field] -> meatball menu option "Context and default value".

Configure a custom field scheme either by "Add new context" or "Edit context" for an existing scheme. If you would prefer to have a selection of projects sharing the same custom field, in the "Choose applicable context" for "Edit context" settings, select "Apply to issues under selected projects" and select the relevant projects. Otherwise, choose "Global context" which applies to all issues in Jira, but make sure there is not already another scheme that is already configured for the projects you want to consolidate.

      Workaround #2

You can create different gadgets for different custom fields contexts. These gadgets won't show data from other projects that don't contain the appropriate custom field.

      For example:

      • I create a new pie chart
        • I select a project "Project A".
          • Alternatively, I can choose a filter that contains only the project "Project A", e.g. project = "Project A"
        • Under "Statistic Type", I choose the custom field that belongs to "Project A"
      • I create another new pie chart
        • I select a project "Project B"
          • Alternatively, I can choose a filter that contains only the project "Project B", e.g. project = "Project B"
        • Under "Statistic Type", I choose the custom field that belongs to "Project B"
      • I create yet another pie chart
        • I can choose a filter that contains only the projects "PROJC" and "PROJD", e.g. project in (PROJC, PROJD)
        • Under "Statistic Type", I choose the custom field that I want to examine. I have made sure that this field is sharing the same custom field context.

These gadgets will now show data for the relevant projects.
