Description
Issue Summary
It is possible to copy content from Slack to a Jira issue, which will recognize the formatting such as URLs, bold, etc.
Currently, if you copy both the content (message) and the user related information (name, avatar) and paste that into Jira, you will not be able to save it.
See the recording: Copy from Slack error.mp4
Steps to Reproduce
- Select and copy content from Slack, including the message and the user information
- Paste it into an issue's description
- Try to save the content
Expected Results
The content will be saved. If there is unsupported content within the information you have pasted into the issue, the editor should remove it and save the content without the formatting that's causing the problem.
Actual Results
You cannot save the content, and an error message will be displayed:
We couldn't save your content I may contain formatting we don't recognize. Try removing the formatting before saving.
The error message does not point to where the error is coming from either.
Workaround
- Do not copy the user's information along with the message
- Or remove the information that came with the user's name and avatar. Save the content again.
- Or paste the content first to a text editor, copy from the editor and paste to Jira
