When building a dashboard item (gadget), it should be possible to set the category (e.g. "Chart")

      It is currently not possible to set the category (see below screenshot) when building a dashboard gadget in Jira Cloud.

       

      The gadget is automatically added to the Jira category and that's the only option available so far.
