Problem Definition
Automation for Jira cannot currently set Jira Service Management specific fields such as the request type. It also cannot access any of the Jira Service Desk "Portal-only users" which prevents it from being able to set those users as a reporter.
Suggested Solution
Allow project automation to set Jira Service Desk specific fields (example: Request Type)

I am Makarand, Product manager in JSM, focussing on automation.
We have released "Edit Request Type" as an Action Component in A4J in JSM. Now automation rules can have ability to edit an issue's request type in Jira Service Management. Learn more about request types.
