Issue Summary
When viewing an Unassigned issue in the old issue view, the avatar image is broken. Even the Automatic assignee avatar is impacted.
This bug also affects the Issue Navigator when clicking on the assignee drop down, the avatar for the 'Unassigned' user is also not loading
Steps to Reproduce
- Browse to an unassigned issue within your site in the old issue view.
Expected Results
The unassigned avatar should be correctly displayed.
Actual Results
From the browser's Inspect Element results, the image does not load since the image URL is not resolvable.
https://avatar-cdn.atlassian.com/default?size=16&s=16 returns ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Workaround
For avatars not loading in old Jira issue view:
As a workaround, please consider using the new issue view.
For avatars not loading in issue navigator:
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

Any news? Jira still redirects to a broken CDN site

Same problem here. It´s affecting third party apps like Big Picture that also uses this avatar at many places.
I'm not using avatar-cdn.atlassian.com directly, it's being redirected by my host instance when trying to download the image (the Jira host avatar URLs come from a rest response).
This is not fixed in the fix version release page. See the example that I posted already before https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/projects/APL/versions/17539/tab/release-report-all-issues
phnguyen The avatar-cdn.atlassian.com was old avatar service's CDN. As part of GDPR rollout, we have a new avatar service which was made available by June 2019. All consumers were expected to move to new avatar service by virtue of calling Identity's user-profile service (profile-retrieval-service).
Last month, we have shutdown the service as all the major consumers who could not move have moved (there were third parties).
i honestly can't say say it's fixed, because old issue views are no longer accesible due forced switch to new navigation, without ability to turn it off.
