      Issue Summary

      ASCII characters can be rendered by Jira.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a string of text that has the "\u001b" character;
      2. Create a comment with it;

      Expected Results

      The character will be rendered correctly.

      Actual Results

      The character is not rendered and the UI shows an error message indicating a connection problem.

      Notes

      The character is used to create colors on terminal output.
      This error occurred even if I put the text block as a code block.
      Also, the ASCII character does not show up in the text input (it is invisible). It does show up in certain editors. Making the problem even more confusing.
      The character "\u001e" also causes this bug

      Workaround

      The only workaround is to use a text converter, such as http://www.unit-conversion.info/texttools/replace-text/
