Smart Link not opening to a New tab with Github Links

      Issue Summary

      On the new issue view, whenever you paste a link on the Description or comment field, Jira initiates a Smart Link that will attempt to preview this link.

      Environment

      Jira Cloud

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Go to an issue on the New Issue view, paste a Github link either on the comment or description
      2. Save and try to open the link by right clicking.

      Expected Results

      The link should be able to be opened when right clicking.

      Actual Results

      No option to open the link when right clicking as a link is not present for the rendered Smart Link. There's no "a" element with a "href" attribute to show that a link is present when checking on the Dev Console.

      Workaround

      • Use Ctrl + Click or Cmd + Click on the rendered link to open on new tab.

        OR

      • Use Ctrl + Z or Cmd + Z to prevent the link from rendering prior to saving it.

            Hi everyone,

            Thank you for previously raising this bug and bringing it to our attention.

            Within our company roadmap and work capacity, we try to address or review each bug request but admit that not each one will be resolved. To continue the culture of being honest and open, we are closing this bug to focus on our upcoming roadmap for all Jira users.
