Resolution: Won't Fix
In the new issue view, images are compressed when previewing, which forces users that want high resolution in preview to download.
This means that at high zoom levels, users cannot quickly preview since the result is highly pixellated.
The old view let you zoom in upon previewing an image and kept the original resolution intact.

Thank you for bringing this suggestion to our attention.
As explained in our new feature policy, there are many factors that influence our product roadmaps and determine the features we implement. When making decisions about what to prioritize and work on, we combine your feedback and suggestions with insights from our support teams, product analytics, research findings, and more. This information, combined with our medium- and long-term product and platform vision, determines what we implement and its priority order.
Unfortunately, as a result of inactivity (no votes or comments for an extended period of time), this suggestion didn’t make it to the roadmap and we are closing it.
While this issue has been closed, our Product Managers continue to look at requests in https://jira.atlassian.com as they develop their roadmap, including closed ones. In addition, if you feel like this suggestion is still important to your team please let us know by commenting on this ticket.

We are working to bring a range of improvements to the new issue view. To be as transparent as possible I wanted to let you know that we will not be prioritising this issue in the short-term. We will leave this ticket open for you to provide further context and will continue to monitor this ticket for updates and will let you know if we are able to prioritise it.

Hi - I came here from a community issue - the current darker banding at the top hides image details - these are helpful tools like the url details in the toolbar, image and UX on closely cut screen grabs. Overall - the team need in all nearly cases, have to zoom using other tools and take additional time/frustration when this was not a problem in your previous version. .we have lost a functional tool for what seems to be a vanity addition and I cannot think of why a customer would have asked for this change? Please revert as soon as possible to showing preview images without the hindering shading.
